Can you tell us about Yalorde Yoga?

Our Yoga Teacher Ludisis comes from Cuba, an island in the Caribbean full of culture and spirituality, marked by the offspring of African slaves and Spanish colonizers. This mixture of culture and roots brought with it what we now call "Yoruba syncretization". In the Yoruba pantheon, there is a saint named Oshun. Patron of Cuba, owner of the river and fortune; Mother of fertility and love. Oshun is also known as Yalorde and that is why we decided that our company will be called "Yalorde Yoga".

Yalorde Yoga is a company which provides spirituality, well-being, and wisdom in preparing, organizing and making Yoga and Thai Massage Retreats.

Where did your passion for Thai Massage and Yoga come from?

Guenther Schauer's passion for Thai Massage began in 1995 when he visited Thailand for the first time. On that trip, he received numerous traditional massages and he quickly grew interested in this wonderful technique. In the same year, he began studying in several schools in Chiang Mai, and a year later he began to practice as a Thai masseuse in Japan, where he was amazed by the improvement that his clients began to feel. Guenther set out to share the benefits of movements and stretches of Thai massage while traveling through countries such as New Zealand, Chile, Spain, Tibet, Austria, and India.

Since Ludisis Mones was little she grew up surrounded by artists, musicians, dancers and teachers which developed in her a deep love for art and education. This is how her mother introduced her to the world of dance as an extracurricular activity but very soon at the age of 9 it would become the beginning of a career that would mark her life forever.

After many years of training, she became a teacher of Latin-African and Spanish folk dance, finding a strong attraction for the ancestry that these dances treasure.

As a dance teacher, she was looking for the opportunity to advise or help her students with their well-being and spiritual tranquility but it was very difficult to include this in her dance classes.

One day while walking through the streets of the Center of Santiago de Chile, she found a statue of the head of a very peculiar being. She did not know who he was, who he represented. So she started to find the answers. In this way, she met Budha and started reading books about Meditation and Yoga.

Buddha became her best friend, a meditation partner. That's how her love for Yoga began. In the asanas she quickly found her dances, in meditation, she found her spirituality and in pranayama her awakening.

Determined to provide her perception and wisdom to other people, she took her Certified Yoga Alliance Teacher Training in Bali, the island of the gods.

When she gives a Yoga class she does not feel like a teacher, at that moment she is a faithful witness of the awakening of the consciousness of her students.

How did Yalorde Yoga start?

After several years living in Chile and sharing our passions for yoga and Thai Massage, we both felt that it was time to start something innovative and transformative together.

It was when we made a trip to the magnetic center of the Earth in Valle del Elqui and discovered the immense healing power of the techniques we love. In the Elqui Valley, we found a beautiful tree in the middle of a river and both had ideas that would change the course of our lives.

When we saw the tree they thought about the spiritual and cultural roots that each man has. When we saw the river they contemplated "Yalorde" the goddess of the River and patron of Cuba.

This is how Yalorde Yoga was born, from the strength of the tree and from the serenity of the river.
