Photo Diary: Exploring Kyoto in 24-Hours

Written by Wetravel Story Writer | Feb 8, 2016 9:00:00 PM

I recently had the pleasure of traveling to Japan in 2015. With the new year comes excitement for future vacations. Most, if not all, of my friends have been asking me about must-see places and activities based on my recent trip. In order to preserve memories of my travels, I took photos everywhere I went and composed a mini photo diary for each of the major cities, including Kyoto, Japan.

Kyoto was one of my favorite cities that I got to visit. While Tokyo is fast-paced and bustling, Kyoto is relaxed and serene. My friend and I had twenty-four hours to see everything on our list and we managed to see it all. Mere words simply can't do this city justice, so I'll allow the pictures I took to do most of the talking.

Our first day traveling in Kyoto. Walking up to see Kiyomizu-dera.

The famous Sannenzaka Slope.

We finally made it! At Kiyomizu-dera you drink from one of the three streams of water, which stand for health, longevity, and success in studies.

On our way back down the slope, we stumbled upon an adorable Studio Ghibli store.

So much want.

The morning after the hike with a traditional Japanese breakfast.

Day two is all about Fushimi-Inari Shrine.

Foxes watch over the shrine and we got to design our own for our fortune.

I have no words.

Finishing up the day with some dango before we catch our train.
