Mike Richardson On Why Yoga Is Our Best Teacher

Written by Jen Corley (she/her) | May 22, 2016 8:00:00 PM

In 2003, Mike Richardson started his yoga practice as a way to relieve pain and tension in his body. As his practice deepened, he discovered yoga gave him so much more. Now, as Mike describes his journey into yoga, he says he had finally found what he had been looking for all along. He hasn’t looked back since.

Based out of San Francisco, Mike teaches daily yoga classes emphasizing the linking of breath and movement (vinyasa) and the practice of love and devotion (bhakti). His approach to yoga speaks to an array of practitioners as he believes that yoga has a place in everyone's life, regardless of students’ backgrounds, body types and abilities. In addition to teaching, Mike also hosts yoga retreats in breathtaking locations such as California and Panama. Featuring daily yoga classes and meditation practice, his retreats give you the opportunity to explore your surroundings and to reconnect with yourself.

Mike has a simple philosophy - show up. What he means can best be described as making the conscious decision to show up in life by being present, humble and honoring yourself along the way. By practicing yoga and making the effort to get on the mat, Mike believes that everyone has something to learn, and yoga is there to teach.

Mike Richardson is a yoga teacher based out of San Francisco, CA. After yoga redefined his life in 2003, Mike has dedicated himself to sharing his love of yoga with others.
